Date of Passing: Jun 24, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID MASHOWSKI On June 24, 2004, David Mashowski, 40 years of age, left this world for a better place. He was a man of principle and will be sadly missed. Dave was born in Portage la Prairie and spent his younger years growing up in Dauphin. The family later moved to Winnipeg, residing in East Kildonan, where Dave attended Kildonan East Secondary School and graduated with a certificate in Power Mechanics. He later attended Red River College and obtained a Graphic Arts Diploma. Dave worked as a printing press operator for many years at Kelletts and the Winnipeg Sun. He took great pride in producing quality work. Dave was a unique, sensitive individual with a keen sense of the beauty and wonder of life. This was expressed in his collections of music, art and memorabilia. Although he spent much time alone, he enjoyed sharing what he had with family and friends. Dave was playful and would often point out the humourous side of things. He was kind and forgiving and would rather hurt himself than another. He helped others with innovative solutions to practical problems. Dave travelled extensively and took many nature pictures. He recently won a prize in a photography contest. Dave was courageous, independent and a daring sportsman bordering on being a stuntman. He skied, cycled and swam. His sense of adventure led him to travel across Canada on a motorcycle. Daves mechanical talent and a sense of design would enable him to invent gadgets. He was athletic and would push himself to the limit. He could ride a unicycle and walk on stilts. Many people said he was handsome and stylish. Dave leaves to cherish his memory his two sisters, Maxine Corrington (James/Tim), Myra Mashowski (Barry) brother Larry; father Tom; his cat Scratchy; numerous other relatives and friends, particularly Eddie Polkowski, Dan Verdonck, "Big Al" Palmer and Mike Foster. He was predeceased by his mother Colly Baldwinson and stepfather Grimsi Brynjolfson. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pilgrim Baptist Church, 41 Maple St. Rev. Dr. J. Kibwaa officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Pilgrim Baptist Church. Psalm 103, Romans 8:31-39. "Free at Last" Ode to Dave - He was innocent. He was pure. I loved him more than life itself. Love will bind us together forever. This world is not our home. Your sister.

Dave was a very kind soul. I met him New Year’s eve and that was a wonderful start to the year! He taught me how to make tuna casserole in a pot and I think of him every time I eat it (or when I see a Ninja Kawasaki ride down the highway). I was shocked to learn of his passing. I wish I could have seen him one last time. My condolences to his family. He is loved and missed. - Posted by: Charlene (Friend) on: Jan 19, 2022
