Helga will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, Fred Jansen, as well as her children, Heike Doerksen (John), Uwe Jansen (Heather) and Silke Blaine (Doug) and her grandchildren, Carlee, Jeremy and Greg Doerksen, Marina and Dallas Jansen and Melissa and Travis Blaine. She will also be missed by her sister and numerous nieces and nephews in Germany. Helga was born in Bochum-Gerthe, Germany on January 21, 1932. After graduating from high school, she was employed as a long distance telephone operator. She met Fred on September 19, 1953 and they married on June 11, 1955. They had three children and in 1967 the family immigrated to Winnipeg. She began her working career in Canada at the Salvation Army Grace Hospital in 1970 as a Dispatch Clerk, advancing to the position of Accounts Payable Clerk in the Finance Department. She retired in January, 1991. Helga was a kind soul, who loved to laugh, garden, travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was a very generous person, who was always ready to help with anything. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Because of her wonderful disposition, Helga had many friends, all of whom will miss her. In accordance with Helgas wishes, there will not be a funeral or formal service. A private family gathering has taken place. The family would like to express appreciation and thanks to the staff at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour, especially the Rose Unit for the wonderful care they gave to Helga. We would also like to thank Dr. Corder for his kindness and professional care. A special thanks to Alice for her caring and compassion during the final hours. Flowers are gratefully declined, however, donations in Helgas name to the Alzheimer Society Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to East Gate Lodge, P.O. Box 1690, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0, would be appreciated.
