ANTHONY (TONY) TYSON POTTINGER Peacefully on July 16, 2004, with family by his side, Tony, son of Randy and Karen Pottinger, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 23, after a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Tony was born April 30, 1981 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. Tony was not expected to live past 18 years old, but was lucky enough to receive his double lung transplant in time, and it just happened to be on Valentines Day. This gift gave him five years to do the things in life he never had the chance to do. After Tony finished high school he wanted to become a Sign Language Instructor. He completed three years at the Manitoba Deaf Centre and was recently accepted and planning to attend university and college to finish his degree. Tony was most noted for his love of animals, music, hi-tech toys, playing on his computer and talking to Nigel on his CB radio. You could always find Tony driving around in his car and going to play a game of pool with his friends. Predeceased by his brother Jason (who also had Cystic Fibrosis), grandfather George and Uncle Keith Pottinger. Besides his parents he leaves to mourn his sister Carrie (Wade) brother Carl (Shawna) his grandparents, Ross and Sylvia Arnold, and Virginia Pottinger; aunts and uncles, Ken and Linda Windross, Wendy Rosin, Brent and Charlene, Ricky and Patty, and Mickey Arnold, Lillian and Allan, Bruce (Judy), Don (Julie), Kirk (Dawn), Brenda (Dan), Edith, Paul, Carol, Sharon, Norma, Donna Pottinger and Randy Budge. He leaves to mourn his special cousins, Les and Ricky, Michael and Steven, Craig and Shirley and numerous other cousins. In addition, he leaves to mourn his niece and nephews, arian, Jarred, Anthony and Keon. Also he leaves behind his special friends, Toby Paresien and Nigel Jundt. A celebration of Tonys life will be held on Saturday, July 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ashern Centennial Hall with Pastor Melanie Kauppila officiating. Interment to follow in the Ashern Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Winnipeg Chapter, Box 21008, 33-3900 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3R 3R2. Arnasons Funeral Home, Ashern, in care of arrangements, 768-2072.
