AGNES FINLAYSON Peacefully on July 18, 2004 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Brandon, MB, Agnes Finlayson, aged 88 years formerly of Ashern, MB. Agnes was born December 16, 1915 in Winnipeg, MB. She was raised on the family farm west of Moosehorn, MB and attended Bayton School. Agnes married Jack Finlayson and they lived on the farm for a few years before moving to Winnipeg. Agnes and Jack moved back to Ashern where they raised their family. Agnes worked for Thorgis General Store in Ashern for 15 years. In 1968 Agnes and Jack moved to Gillam, but they returned in 1973. While in Gillam, she worked at the Co-op. Agnes was a lifelong member of the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, worked at the hospital as a cook and also for homecare. She was always more than willing to help the L.I.F.E. program in Ashern. Agnes enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, and cards. She was a loving mother, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, sister and friend. She leaves to mourn her children, Marlene (Ross), grandchildren, Leanne and Timothy; Margaret (Hugh Harvey), grandchildren, Hugh and Allison; John (Phyllis), grandchildren, Colleen and Sandra; Gary (Linda), grandchildren, Carrie, Robert and Danny; Kenneth (Janice), grandchildren, Shelly and Todd; Lynn (Frank Dick), grandchildren, Lorri, Leanne, Jodi and Trevor; Rodrick (Diane), grandchildren, Scott and Kristy; also 20 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Bob Rennie of Portage la Prairie; sisters-in-law, Marjory Finlayson, Gladys Foster, and Marge Stabner; also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1974; her parents, Queenie and William; six sisters; five brothers; sisters-in-law, Mary Fines, Chrissie Cook; brothers-in-law, Angus Finlayson and Alex Finlayson; and a granddaughter Cathy Harvey. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ashern Legion Hall with Pastor Bernie Rist officiating. Interment to follow in the Faulkner Cemetery. Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern.
