MURRAY A.V. FOSTER Peacefully, on Sunday, July 18, 2004, after a brief illness, with his beloved wife Pearl at his side, Murray Foster of Winnipeg passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 89 years. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving and devoted wife, Pearl of 60 years of marriage; his two sons, Wayne (partner Elizabeth Harris) of Winnipeg and Glenn (Nancy) of Calgary; grandchildren, Melissa and Sean; brother Clifton; and sister Iva. Murray was born on September 18, 1914, the eighth of twelve children born to David and Alice (Perry) Foster in the Turtle River District N.E. of Ochre River, MB. He attended Turtle River School. After his schooling, he worked as a lumberjack and miner and competed in various rodeos in Saddle Bronc Riding throughout Western Canada. In January of 1941, Murray and his brother Ivan joined the Canadian Army and went overseas. They spent the entire war years together. He served as a Corporal in the RCASC as a dispatch rider No. 1MAC (Motor Ambulance Convoy). Murray served in the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean area and continental Europe. During the war while in Manchester, England, he met and married Pearl Brittan on September 11, 1943. After the war and his discharge from the service in September 1945, they settled in Winnipeg, Mb. Murray worked for the Manitoba Provincial Government as a Sheriffs Officer until his retirement in 1979. He also served as Sheriff in Dauphin, Mb for a brief time. After his retirement, he had the opportunity to work with his passion, horses, for about five years. A private ceremony was held to mark Murrays passing and celebrate his life.
