Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAXEL MELSTED Peacefully on Monday, July 19, 2004 at Deer Lodge Centre, Axel Melsted, beloved husband of Shirley Melsted passed away. He is survived by his wife Shirley and his stepdaughters, Kim Elke (Murray), Kathy Marks (Dick Arnason) and stepgrandchildren, Krista Gudmundson, Joanna Baron, Erik and Alana Grimolfson; sister Thora Helgason; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Axel and Gudrun Melsted; his brothers, Laugi and Jon; and sisters, Margaret, Laura and Adalheidur. Axel was born and raised in Arnes, MB on April 27, 1922. He served overseas in the Second World War with the Saskatchewan Light Infantry. He worked for many years as a construction foreman in northern Manitoba and the Arctic. Axel enjoyed playing his guitar, travelling and cooking. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 22 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance.
