MAURICE "MOE" BELLERIVE It is with overwhelming sorrow that we announce the loss of our husband, father, and grandfather Maurice on July 20, 2004. His wife Clotilde and granddaughter Jacqueline were at his side, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the time of his passing. His memory will be cherished by his wife Clotilde of 54 years; his children, Roger (Amy), Lorraine (Tony) Compayre, Diane (Clifford Paddock) and special "daughter" Irene (Dan) Davie. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Leon (Angie and Alyssa), Jacqui, Julie, David and Mitchell; as well as step-grandchildren, Arlene Blais (Ashley and Marc) and Ronald (Helen) Medwedew. He is survived by one sister Anita Sorobey and several nieces and nephews. Maurice was born on August 18, 1924 in Ste. Elizabeth, MB and later moved to St. Boniface. As a young man, Moe served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. His need for adventure led him to Churchill, MB in 1949 to work for the Foundation Company. In 1950 he married Clotilde Cloutier and returned to Churchill where they spent the first 35 years of their marriage. During his years in Churchill, Moe was an active community member, involved in many organizations including the Royal Canadian Legion, Churchill Curling Club, Lions Club and serving several terms as a Town Councillor. In 1984 he retired from the Department of Transport and moved to Rocky Lake to build a log cabin and retirement home where there was plenty of open space, lots of fishing, and always someone in need of his advice. Moe, affectionately known as Moe-On-Call, Grandpa Gadget, The Old Timer and Mr. Fix-It, was a skilled tradesman who was known for his willingness and ability to help others at any time of day or night. He didnt believe there was anything that could not be fixed and rose to every challenge. His love of work was equalled by his love of play and his enjoyment of family, friends and neighbours. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, fishing, boating and golfing. He was genuinely interested in everyone and everything. He liked to keep up with current news, events and issues and loved to engage in debates on any topic from technology to politics. Moe loved life and didnt waste a moment of his near 80 years. He is deeply loved and will be sorely missed. The family would like to thank the medical staff, especially Dr. Andrew Dickieson, at the St. Boniface Hospital MICU for their compassionate care during Moes illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, July 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Dr., with Fr.
