Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMMA IDA GILCHRIST April 25, 1917 - July 20, 2004 Emma Gilchrist (nee Scheibe) passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving daughter Jackie Hurma in 2003. Emma is survived by her beloved husband Nelson of 58 years; son Barry (Lynda) Gilchrist; daughter Judy (Ronald) Smith; son-in-law David Hurma; grandchildren, James, Laura, Byron, Shannon, Jelena; sister Alma (Harry) Paulsen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Emma grew up near Ridgeville, MB, and lived there happily until retiring to Winnipeg in 1967. Emma will be remembered by many as a loved and respected teacher, and by others for her contributions to her community and church. She will be cherished by her family for the love, support, guidance and encouragement which she provided, and for her warm engaging smile. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Pembina Place and the Manitoba Deaf Centre for their care and exceptional kindness. A memorial service will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 200 Dalhousie Dr., on Monday, July 26 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Sjoberg officiating. Interment at 5:00 p.m. at Fredensthal Cemetery. Friends welcome.
