WINSTON LEATHERS Winston Leathers died late Tuesday night, July 20, 2004 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora where he was taken from his cottage in Minaki on Monday afternoon, July 19. He was 71. The only child of the late Aylmer Leathers and Gertrude (Hefford) Leathers, he is survived by his wife Kathleen (Wilson) Leathers, and many, many dear friends; his son Paul Leathers and his wife; the Wilson family and Hefford family cousins. Winston was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts, a well-respected member of Manitobas visual arts community, a great supporter of the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and a mentor to many young visual artists and graduates from the Faculty of Architecture where he taught for 26 years. At his request there will be no funeral. Friends are invited to an evening of farewell at the Winnipeg Art Gallery on July 29 at 7:00 p.m.
