HENRY (HENDRIK) HES It is with great sorrow and sadness that our family announces that Henry (Hendrik) passed away suddenly at the St. Boniface Hospital on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at the age of 75. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Johanna with whom he shared 54 wonderful years; son John (Gerta) and their children, Kimberly (Remi) Hes-Jobin, Joanna and John Jr. (Leah Cavers) son Jacob and his children, Mike, Josh and Amy; son Henry (Tamara) and their children, Jennifer, Candace and Coltin; son Wesley (Theresa) and their daughter Alexsandra; daughter Shirley (Mark) Kneale and their children, Andrea and George and great-grandchildren Janna and Cassidy Hes-Jobin. He is also survived by two sisters, Tietje (Homme) De Vries and Anny Veninga, and their families in Holland. Dad emigrated from Friesland, Holland to Canada in 1954 with Mom and two children. He worked as a farm hand when he first arrived, but soon learned the English language and found himself employment at The University of Manitoba where he was employed for 36 years, mostly in the electrical maintenance department. Our Dad, Pake and Oer Pake, will be remembered for his love of family, his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, his strong work ethic and for his deep faith in the Lord. For Dad, time was no better spent than when he was working in his greenhouse, camping, fishing, playing a great game of cards, and spending time with his children and grandchildren at their cottages. The family wishes to thank the staff at The St. Boniface SICU for their compassionate care during his brief stay. A celebration of Henrys life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 24 at Elmwood Community Reformed Church, 1040 Beach Ave. Interment will follow at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henrys memory to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Room D1003, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6.
