DORA GOWLER (nee JONES) It is with sorrow that we announce the loss of our mother and grandmother Dora on July 22, 2004 at Grace Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Pamela (Louis) and their children, Stefan and Carrie; Deborah (Keith) and their children, Jennifer and Lindsay; Wanda (Keith) and their children, Gwen, Ailene and William; Shelley (Tim) and their children, Jed and Holly. Mom was born in Winnipeg on June 11, 1927. Her early work experience was at Great West Life, Massey Harris and Jones Cafe which was owned by her parents. She was a skilled seamstress for many brides and bridesmaids and could duplicate a gown from a picture in a magazine. Mom was a gifted and talented crafts person excelling in knitting and ceramics. Being an avid crafter, Mom, Auntie Peggy, Ailene and Holly would travel about to various craft sales to sell their crafts. Mom was also an avid reader and instilled in her family the love for reading. A day never ended without a reading time. A dedicated grandmother, Mas home was the place you could wear your pyjamas all day, have tea and toast parties, catch frogs, play dress-up with her jewellery and hats, and fall asleep reading your favourite books. Craft activities were always on the dining room table and an array of items were always on display for moms and dads to see. Mom loved the regular trips to Clear Lake with her good friend Joan and there were many stories of their adventures. At her request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held to celebrate her life. The family would like to thank the compassionate and caring staff at Grace Hospital and the many friends and family who visited.
