Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAELINA (LEE) HUYDA (nee FARION) Peacefully passed into the Lords hands on July 22, 2004 with loving family by her side. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her son Richard (Elaine) daughter Joanne Raw; five grandchildren, Travis, Jennifer, Allison, Teresa, Jonathan; five great-grandchildren, Steven, Kellie, Emily, Christopher, Sarah; and by her nieces, nephews and many friends. Lee was predeceased in 1997 by her beloved husband John, and by all nine siblings. Michaelina was born in Sifton, MB, November 12, 1911, youngest daughter of Fred Farion and Anna Harasym. Educated first in Sifton, she graduated from Success Business College in Winnipeg, worked as a stenographer, and on October 28, 1939 married John Huyda. Living in Sifton, Dauphin, Windsor, Ottawa, Toronto and Winnipeg, she enjoyed her various roles as loving wife, devoted mother, office worker, and committed community volunteer. Lee was President of the Associated Commercial Travellers Ladies Auxiliaries in Ottawa and Winnipeg, and of Ukrainian Catholic Womens League of Holy Eucharist Parish. She was also a member of the Holy Family Nursing Auxiliary, the Ukrainian Canadian Committee, Rebekah Oddfellows Lodge, and the Royal Purple Elks Lodge. Lee also played a vital supportive role in her husband Johns active business, political and volunteer career, participating in many community and church activities. Mom actively and lovingly created a good home life for her children and enjoyed watching and supporting them and their families grow. She also enjoyed a diversity of personal activities. The family would like to thank the staff of Riverview Health Care Centre Misericordia, and Rosewood Village for their professional and loving care that they provided Mom over the past few years. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 28 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 505 Watt St. (at Munroe Avenue) with Fr. D. Kawiuk officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Michaelina Huyda may be made to a charity of choice.
