Date of Passing: Jul 23, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER SENYSHYN On July 23, 2004, at the age of 79, Walter Senyshyn passed away at his home. He was a devoted and loving husband to Julia (nee Swystun) during their 57 years of marriage. He was a dedicated father to his daughters, Wilma (Bill Rowsel), Pamela (Tom Gross) and to his son Jan. He was a caring grandfather to Sacha (Daniel Cosman) and Angela Clarke, and to Cody and Adam Gross. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Edward (Anne) Sennin. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Mary Senyshyn; and by his elder brother Emil. Wally was born in Winnipeg in 1924, and attended Aberdeen, Isaac Newton, and St. Johns High School. After serving in the air force during the Second World War, he entered the employ of the CNR, where he worked for 45 years, beginning as a carman apprentice and, through hard work, initiative, and study, ended his career as a system analyst. After Wally married Julia in 1947, he built a home on Fleet Avenue where they resided for 30 years. In 1980, his work took them to Montreal and, in 1993, they returned to live in West Kildonan. Wally was a man of many interests and loved carpentry, woodworking, and decorative carving. He had a deep commitment to his extended family, friends, and neighbours, and was always there to lend a hand. He loved his garden and even brewed his own beer and wines. He had a strong sense of social justice as expressed by his involvement in Habitat for Humanity, Amnesty International, Greenpeace, the NDP Party, and as a volunteer driver for the physically challenged. His easy-going disposition found happiness in whatever life presented him. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. S. Jonasson officiating, with interment at Glen Eden. Flowers gratefully declined. In Wallys memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
