PAPA BEAR WORE A COWBOY HAT It is with great sadness that the children of Dr. C. Harvey Payne announce his sudden passing. He loved life and the outdoors passionately. Predeceased by his parents, Harvey leaves behind spouse Karen; children, Chenoa (Steve), Rosalie (Mike), Heather (Scott) and Wesley; their mothers Lorna and Eleanor, (children Alison, Jeff and Chris) and grandchildren Natalie and Andrea; as well as countless friends and colleagues across the country. Although Harvey is terribly missed we wish him peace and love on his next journey. Harvey dedicated himself to his research and helped to reintroduce and establish wild wood bison in the province of Manitoba. Sailing and spending time at his cabin also brought him closer to the wilderness he loved so much. He cherished his relationships with friends and of course, his family. He leaves us with an unfillable void, but his humour and his wisdom will never be forgotten. Harveys children wish to invite everyone connected in any way to their father to join them in a celebration of his life at the Fort Whyte Centre on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Harvey Payne, Ph.D. Lake Winnipeg Preservation Memorial Fund at the University of Manitoba.
