Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILLIAN MABEL HUGHES (nee MITCHELL) 1917 - 2004 With great sadness we announce the passing of Lillian Hughes on July 26, 2004 at Middlechurch Personal Care Home. She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter Patricia; son-in-law Robert; grandsons Robert and Scott; granddaughter-in-law Darlene; great granddaughter Kelly; sister Ruth Borowski; her nieces and nephews and many friends. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1964; her parents, Irwin and Margaret Mitchell; sisters Gladys Kellet and Jean Leavens and brother Graham Mitchell. Lillian was born in Roblin, MB on May 10, 1917 where she lived until her marriage on September 13, 1941to Robert Hughes of Kells, Ireland. They spent their married life in Hamilton, Roblin, Swan River, Minnedosa and Winnipeg. In Roblin, Lillian worked for her father at Mitchells Drug Store and later was a switchboard operator for the telephone company. In Winnipeg, she worked at Eatons and then at Care Services, until her retirement. Lillian was a life member of Grey Street United Church and an active member of the UCWA. Lillian devoted her life to her family and friends and was an extremely caring and loving lady. She enjoyed time with her family and playing bridge with her friends. Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 29, from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 30, at 1:30 p.m. at Grey Street United Church, NE Grey Street & Sandhurst Avenue.
