KENNETH (ARTHUR) IBBETSON It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of our dad Ken Ibbetson at the St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, July 25, 2004 at the age of 73. Predeceased by parents, Arthur and Flossie Ibbetson and loving wife May of 46 years, he is survived by sons, Glenn and Brett; daughters, Kenda and Barbara; daughter-in-law Peggy; son-in-law Darren Reid; grandsons, Kyle, David, Jordan and Jagger; granddaughters, Brianne, Charlene, Nicole, Haley, Andrea and Carolyn; sisters, Doreen Oatway and Bernice Stuart; sister-in-law Hazel Williams and husband Bruce of Ottawa; nephew Brian Simmons; niece Delayne Bird (Brian) and nephew Wayne Williams (Christine) of Ottawa and other relatives. Ken was born in Winnipeg on July 10, 1931. He received his education in Winnipeg and graduated from Daniel McIntrye Collegiate in 1948. Dad started his career at J.I. Case. He then joined Security Storage in 1954 and subsequently held several senior management positions within the Canadian Motorways Group of Companies until the organization disbanded in 1992. He made many friends within the trucking and transportation industry and was an active participant in a number of trade related associations. During his lifetime he belonged to and took an active role in many community and business related organizations, including The Masons, Scottish Rite, The Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters, Sales and Marketing Executives, Winnipeg Rotary Club, Winnipeg Transportation Club and Chamber of Commerce. Ken led an active and busy life, but considered family as first priority. Dad and family enjoyed camping and trailering in earlier years, experiencing many wonderful vacations travelling across Canada and the United States. His greatest joy, however, was the many years spent fishing and boating in and around the Lake of the Woods area. The family had countless hours of fun enjoying so many activities and making friends for life. Dad can be best remembered for his generosity, integrity and being a true gentleman. His children loved and revered their father, who set a wonderful example to follow by. We will always cherish the past few months caring for him during his greatest time of need. A memorial service will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. A reception will follow in the lower level in celebration of Dads life. The family wishes to extend their grateful thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care provided for Dad by Drs. R. Alback, J. Milner and J. Lezack along with the Oncology Unit (Seven Oaks) and the Palliative Care Team in St. James and St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations if desired can be made to the charity of your choice. We love you so much Dad and thanks.
