GRACE SCHOFIELD It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our Wife, Mother and Grandmother, our best friend Grace S. Schofield at the age of 63, at her residence in Killarney, Manitoba. Grace was born at Rainy River, Ontario, the daughter of the late Margie and Edwin Wilson, she was raised by her Aunt Midge and Uncle Stan. She worked at the Pembina Drive-in in the Early 60s. In the late 60s she moved to Gillam, Manitoba and was employed by the L.G.D. of Gillam for 26 years. She married James King in 1958 and had three children. Grace was an active member of the Glee Club, first Y.B.C. Director in the Gillam bowling lanes, as well as an avid bowler herself. She was a proud member of the Legion Ladies Aux. and in 1988 she was the first female member of the Lioness club to be sworn in as a Lions member in a Conference in Hong Kong, China. She catered many meals for the Curling Club, Gillam Firefighters Rodeo, fundraising or weddings. She was always involved with the community, if there was any plans to be made Grace was the lady to see. She married William Ryan Schofield in Feb. 14, 1990. She was a devoted mother and Grandmother to the combination of the 2 families. She eagerly awaited every new grandchild. Christmas was Graces season. Everything was a secret and a giggle. She looked forward to every visit and all the fond memories. She moved to Killarney with Ryan on May 14, 1998 where she became actively involved with the community and the United Church. She always told you of the recent stories of what Rev. Cole had done or said. For the last 4 years she and Ryan cared for their visiting campers at Kerry Park, which became their passions as every summer approached. She parented her children with a nurturing, loving, gentle guidance and told all her children and grandchildren how much she loved them. Every phone call, letter, note and care package was always included with hugs and kisses and an "I LOVE YOU." She never let you assume you were loved, she told us every time she spoke with us. Many years ago two of her grandchildren lost their other Grandma. Grandma Grace took them aside and told them to look to the sky every night. When they spotted the brightest and biggest star in the sky, that was their Grandma Stamm looking down on them to watch over them. The sky is getting very bright as we have another star to look for. Grace (Sylvia) Schofield is predeceased by her parents, Margie and Edwin Wilson; brothers, Donald and (Bud) Elwin and niece Nanci Philips. She is survived by her husband Ryan Schofield; sons, Jim King (daughter Caitlyn), Glen King and wife Wanda (daughter Ashley (Dez Peebles) son Grant) and daughter Sandra King (daughter Autumn and son Cole), childrens father James King. Sisters, Edra Glover, Elaine Smeal (Howard) brothers, Roy Wilson and Phil; step-children, Rick Schofield and wife Sigga (son Devon), Ralph Schofield and wife Laura (daughter Brooklyne and son Edison), Darlene and husband Walter (sons Alex and Trevor) and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren who loved her dearly. Killarney Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
