MYRTLE MARY OLSON (nee GEMMELL) June 9, 1919 - July 24, 2004 Peacefully on July 24, 2004 at the E.M. Crowe Hospital with her daughter Candyce and granddaughter Jolene at her side, Myrtle Mary Olson of Eriksdale, MB passed away at the age of 85 years. Myrtle was raised at Eriksdale but moved to Winnipeg to work at Eatons and as a cook for the C.N.R. On December 23, 1947 she married (Milo) Gordon Olson, they had three children. After Dads passing in 1978, she moved to Kamloops, BC and resided there for 22 years. This is where she met Percy. Mom came to live with her daughter Candyce at the end of March and loved her time she spent with her family in Eriksdale. Moms hobby was cross stitching and she loved to walk with her special friend Percy. Her doors were always open to everyone. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always made herself available to look after her brothers when they were sick. She leaves to mourn her daughter Gloria Olson of Burnaby, BC, grandchildren, Lindsey (Richard) Hanley of Toronto, ON and Sean Tretiak of Burnaby; son Doug (Denise) Olson of Thunder Bay, ON, grandchildren, April (Duane) Grover of Innisfail, AB, Tracie (Lonnie) Coulterman of Hamner, ON, Riley Olson of Thunder Bay, and Zoe-Lyn of Thunder Bay; daughter Candyce (Jerry) Lipus of Eriksdale, MB, grandchild Jolene (Tom) Brunen of Eriksdale, MB; great-grandchildren, Sara, Mathew, Rebecca, Sarah, Kirstin, Siena, Kevin, Daniel, and Katrina; her sister-in-law Miss Nephie Olson of Regina, SK; special friends, Buni Hudey of Manitouwadge, ON, and Joyce Lipus of Saskatoon, SK. She was predeceased by her father Thomas Gemmell Sr. in 1969; her mother Florence Beatrice Gemmell in 1981; brothers, Lorne (Mickey) Gemmell in 1992, William John Gemmell in 1996, and Thomas Gemmell Jr. in 2002; her first husband (Milo) Gordon Olson in 1978; and her second husband Percy Middleton in 2001. She will always be remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends. At her request cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Mom, the morning your fingertips slipped away from mine, I not only lost a Mom, I also lost the best friend anyone could ask for in the world. I love you, Candy To Those I Love And Those Who Loved Me When Im gone, release me, let me go... I have so many things to see and do; You mustnt tie yourself to me with tears; Be happy that weve had so many years. I gave to you my love, you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you have shown, But now its time I travelled on alone. So grieve a while for me if grieve you must; Then let your grief be comforted by trust, Its only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I wont be far away, for life goes on; So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you cant see me or touch me, Ill be near and if you listen with your heart, Youll hear, all my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone; Ill greet you with a smile and say "Welcome Home." Arrangements By: ARNASON FUNERAL HOMES LTD. ASHERN - LUNDAR (204) 768-2072
