WILLIAM GEORGE COUPLAND 1922 - 2004 William Coupland passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2004 to join his wife, Vivian. Born March 3, 1922 to Annie and George Coupland in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, he spent his childhood and teenage years on family farms in Saskatchewan and Manitoba until the death of his father. He, his mother and sisters then moved to Winnipeg where he met his wife Vivian to whom has was totally devoted for the next 58 years. He worked for many years in the terrazzo business and then moved on to work for over 25 years at Motor Coach Industries. He retired in 1986 and spent the rest of his years caring for his ailing wife until her death in April. William was predeceased by his parents, Annie and George Coupland; wife, Vivian earlier this year; and son, David in 1972. He leaves to mourn his passing and forever cherish his memory his two sisters, Olive Pritchard and Helen Storey, both from Ottawa; his son Rodney; daughter Heather; grandchildren Robert Lowe, Wendy and Martin Sauer, Dennis Lowe, Heather and David Dueck, David Trudeau, Michael, Tamara and Kyle Williams; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Isabella Lowe, Jessica, Robert and James Sauer, Jacob and Hailey Dueck. Also survived by many sisters and brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Pastor Allen Dueck, Jake Froese, and Abe and Anna Friesen for their care and concern over the years and especially the last three months. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Fellowship Chapel, 465 Osborne Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2A4.
