MELANIE BETTINA FRIESEN Born June 28, 1980 Died July 27, 2004 It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Melanie Bettina Friesen. She will be greatly missed by her husband Charles; parents, Hardy and Bettina Gerl; and sister Tanya; as well as Charles family, Roger and Marsha Friesen, sister-in-law, Lisa and brother-in-law, Sam. She will also be missed by grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins and many friends. Melanie was loved by everyone whose lives she touched, particularly her students at James Nisbet School, where she taught music to grades K-5. Her gift to others was herself, music and teaching was her way of expressing her passion for life. She devoted her life to God and to her husband, Charles, to whom she was married for four years. Her life was modelled after 1 Timothy 2:10 "for women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do." Her husband, family, students and friends will miss the many good things that she did everyday. The viewing service will be held Friday, July 30 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. at 7:00 p.m. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 31 at 9:30 a.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery, followed by her memorial service at Eastview Community Church, 3500 DeVries Ave. at 11:00 a.m. A memorial fund in Melanies honour has been set up for Camp Nutimik. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Mrs.friesen was the most amazing person, woman and everything else that stood this planet. As I sit here today and think of her I had to Google her obituary and share my love and respect for her. She made an impact on everyone's lives. Its been over 10 years and I can still see her smile and listen to her music. She was so proud of her class, she was proud of me. I miss her forever and hold her in my heart. The heart she had will never be forgotten. My favorite teacher, since I was a little girl, will always be my favorite teacher ❤️ - Posted by: Leila (Student) on: May 15, 2022

  • She was an amazing teacher, I used to talk to her all the time during music class and everything, she was kind and amazing. I remember when the school called and told me a teacher has died, I cried the entire day because she was one of my favorite teachers, her class was the one that I look forward to everyday. - Posted by: jeremy anderson (student) on: Aug 16, 2014

  • Mrs. Friesen was an amazing woman. Although it has been about 8 years since she passed, I still recall what a great teacher and role model she was. Her memory will live on for years to come. Rest in paradise! - Posted by: kayla (student ) on: Aug 08, 2012
