JOHN (JACK) EDWARD GIRDEN With deep sorrow and feelings of a great loss, the family wishes to announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle on July 26, 2004 at the young age of 75 years. Dad was predeceased by the mother of his children, Arvena; his father Howard; his mother Elena and his grandsons John Girden and Lionel Courchene and his sister-in-law, Joan Girden. Dad will be lovingly remembered and his memory cherished by his children, Bill (Lee), Jim (Jenn), Donna, Patricia (Paul), Jennifer (Chuck), Ed, Randy (Laura), Darlene, Diane (Tony) and Jackie (Gary), along with 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dad is survived by his brothers, Don (Pat) Girden and Dick Girden, and sisters, Myrtle (Bill) McDougall of Ontario and Lillian (Harold) Duncan of Winnipeg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Winnipeg, MB. He left home at an early age, and worked with Ontario Hydro, he met Mom and they returned to Winnipeg. Dad was employed with Winnipeg Hydro where he worked until his retirement. Dad was known as a jack-of-all trades and master of none, skills he used in his early years to help raise the family and skills he passed onto his children. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 31 at 1:30 p.m. in the Thomson "In The Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to service. The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of the 5th floor Unit 5 of the Seven Oaks Hospital, and a special thanks to the emergency staff at the Health Sciences Centre, and to the Police Department and the Fire Paramedics of the City of Winnipeg.   • Thank you so much for the happy years that we spent together when i was a child. Things that you taught have stuck with me always. I will never forget you. Bless you for being the father I never had. I have thought of you often while growing up. I wish that I had gotten to spend more time with you! I love you Jay always and forever!!
