MICHAEL J. KOLOCHEN
Date of Passing: Jul 28, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL J. KOLOCHEN It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband of 51 years, father and grandfather, Michael Joseph Kolochen on July 28, 2004. Born of Ukrainian parents, John and Mary Kolochen, in Kenora, ON 74 years ago, he lived most of his childhood in Rennie, MB before moving to Winnipeg - where he resided until his death. Michaels outgoing personality and genuine love for others was reflected in the way he handled his illness over the past six years. We know your weary hours are past but in our aching hearts we know "Youve found sweet rest at last". Michael was diagnosed with Parkinsons six years ago and it had been a continuous battle for him, but we never heard a word of complaint. The disease slowly and insidiously took its toll and although it took his ability to do the usual things he took for granted - it never took his spirit. Michael always had a deep commitment for everything he participated in. He worked for Winnipeg Hydro for nearly 40 years retiring in 1986 as Business Manager. He was on the Board of Directors of the Civic Credit Union for many years. His special times were spent at his cottage at Lakeshore Heights but his times with his family were a particular joy to him. Michael was always the most important person in my life and the girls have lost a Dad who cared so much and who supported everything they did. There can be no measure of the depth your loss has left us with. Michael was predeceased by his son Kenneth in 1973; his parents and in-laws, Allan and Kathleen Coats and his sister Anne. Michael will live forever in the hearts of his beloved Ethel, and his daughters, Kathleen Einfeld (Kim), Kristine and Kelly. As well, he is survived by his grandchildren, Lauren, Matthew (Kelly), Joshua (Lindsay) Einfeld. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Joyce Napier and her family; his brother-in-law W. Kushneryk and family; two special Dobees Lil and Elaine who never tired of his story telling. Michael will also be missed by his special friends Bud Hambleton and John Magnusson. Our sincere thanks to the nurses and staff on 4E of Deer Lodge Centre for their care and concern, it meant so much to Michael and his family. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m. in Klassen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Glenn Morison officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Parkinsons Foundation of Canada, #204-825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1M5 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, #200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 would be appreciated. Love lives on forever, In each memory and thought Of Michael - who meant so much And the happiness he brought. Love lives on forever, It will never fade away For in our hearts our Michael Will be with us everyday. KLASSEN Funeral Home 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor 1-877-230-0436
