LAURA MAY SOMERVILLE (nee STEVENSON) February 4, 1931 - July 27, 2004 Peacefully on July 27, 2004, at the Health Sciences Centre Womens Hospital, Laura passed away with her family at her side. Laura will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ken; daughter Barb; son Rob (Carolyn) grandchildren, Tegan and Chelsea; sister-in-law Eleanor Hunter (Jim) brother-in-law Bill Whitwell; and sister-in-law Helen Fahlman; and many nieces and nephews. Laura was born in Silver Plains, MB, on February 4, 1931, the youngest daughter of Mathew and Mary Stevenson. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Morley (Helen), sister Grace and Jay Whitwell. Laura attended school in Silver Plains and Morris, MB, and was later employed at Great West Life in Winnipeg. She enjoyed many sports, volunteered at Norberry School, and took part in many charitable fund raising campaigns over the years. Lauras greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family and close friends. She took particular delight in her grandchildren and the family vacations in Vancouver, Banff and Disneyworld. Lauras sense of fun and enjoyment of life will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the compassionate care provided to Laura by the doctors, nurses and staff at the Womens Hospital and CancerCare Manitoba. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, July 31 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway.
