MARY GOWRILUK On the afternoon of Thursday, July 29, 2004, our dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed peacefully at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Mary was born in Transcona, Manitoba to Nicholas and Michalina Powadiuk. Mary went to school in Transcona and completed her high school at St. Johns Tech. Alongside her parents, in the late 1930s she developed many lifelong friendships through her involvement with "The Market" in North End Winnipeg. Mary met the love of her life, John, in 1938. They were married October 19, 1940 and began building their long life together. They constructed their first house in Parkdale and resided in the area until they moved to Selkirk in 2002. Throughout their 64 year marriage, Mary was a devoted and loving wife. She was very active in the community and contributed as a volunteer at St. Andrews School, as well as a school trustee with the Lord Selkirk School Division. Mary was a faithful member of St. Andrews On The Red Anglican Church and the A.C.W. and belonged to the Manitoba Womens Institute and the Narol Seniors Centre. Mary was predeceased by her brother Fred in 1946, her father and mother in 1969 and 1976 respectively and her beloved daughter-in-law Elsie in 1998. Mary is survived by her devoted husband John; her children Ken, Carole and Keith; Janis and Greg; Glenn and Lori. She was the proud grandmother to Allen and Debbie; Jon, Jennie and Scott; Zachary, Erin and Jerry; Jared, Braden and great grandmother to Blake, Connor and Elyssa. The Family wishes to thank Dr. Barbara Biala and the caring staff of Seven Oaks General Hospital; 3 Unit 4. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 2 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul.
