JOHN ARTHUR MacPHERSON Johnnie MacPherson, 75, of Harbourview Drive, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a brief illness. Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late Rod and Sarah (MacLean) MacPherson. He was a member of St. Anthony Daniel parish, Sydney. John was a 4th degree member of the KOC and a member of the Branch 12 Royal Canadian Legion. He was a career serviceman retiring with a rank of Master Warrant officer in the Canadian Air Force after 29 years service. John finished his career as section commander with special investigation unit in Winnipeg. He served in France and the provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia. Something he received proudly most recently for peace keeping service in Cyprus was the Canadian Peace Keeping Medal. He is survived by his wife, the former Effie MacKinnon; three sons, Gerry, Halifax, Andy (Gladys), Halifax, Rick (Nancy), Winnipeg; a sister, Mrs. Mary McCarron, Lr. South River, NS; a brother, Lewi, Dartmouth; five grand-children, Scott, Gillian, Adam, Daniel and Mary and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Rod and Collie; a sister Kaye MacDonald; and his beloved grandson, Matthew. Visitation for the late Mr. MacPherson took place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Anthony Daniel Church with Rev. Paul McGillvray officiating. Interment was in Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville, NS.
