SHARON (SHERI) LYNN TRUIJEN (nee SMITH) With a heavy heart, we announce the untimely passing of our beloved wife and sister Sharon Lynn Truijen. Peacefully, on July 26, 2004, Sheri passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour after a courageous and hard fought battle with ALS. She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband John, sisters Eve and Mary Ann (Armand), brothers Charlie (Vera), Dick (Sylvia), Bill (Elizabeth) and Gord (Doris) and a brother-in-law Jack. She also leaves mother-in-law Anna, brothers-in-law Peter (Laura), Eric (Lorrie) and David (Wanda), sister-in-law Maria (Ken) and numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. She joins in heaven her parents Rev. Canon George and Elizabeth Smith, her brother Harold, her sister Rev. Canon Genevieve and her father-in-law Henry. Sheri was born in Teulon, MB and in her early years moved around in the Interlake area. At this time she also met her everlasting friends Elaine, Roslyn and Caroline. She traveled extensively in North America visiting her brothers, sisters and friends many times. She especially enjoyed her trips to Los Angeles, Churchill and Europe. For Sheri, work was never a problem, whether it was being a drummer in a band, working for herself or in a number of private, public and temporary agencies. She always made friends wherever she was; with her twinkling eyes, her contagious smile and her zest for life. She was a humble person, full of strong and unwavering faith; always holding fast to her convictions and beliefs. She was a devout Christian throughout her life and would travel to different church services. She had a great love for Gods Word. She also enjoyed a wide range of music, working in her flower garden, sports, the military and cats, especially Angus. Sheri was a true loving wife and a caring compassionate person and the people whose lives she has touched will sadly miss her. We extend her deepest thanks to the people who came into her life, past and present. You encouraged, prayed and just blessed her with your presence and then went away encouraged, prayed for and blessed by her. The family wishes to extend our appreciation to Pat of Pastoral Care, Diana, Doris and Grace of the ALS Society, the many doctors, nurses and supporting staff of the St. Boniface Hospital and The Riverview Personal Care Home; as well as those who attended to Sheris needs at home from Home Care Services and her special friends. Cremation has taken place. A service celebrating Sheris life will be open to all on Friday, August 6, at 1:00 p.m. at Springs Church, 595 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private family service for the interment of ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brandon Youth for Christ, the ALS Society or to Springs Church music ministry. "Behold, I send an angel before you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place which I have prepared." - Exodus 23:20 Rock Fontaine - Funeral Director in care of arrangements, (204) 223-2576. God has you in his keeping; We have you in our hearts.
