ELIZABETH SIGFRIDUR YOUNG (nee HELGASON) Peacefully on Wednesday, July 28, 2004, Elizabeth Sigfridur Young passed away at the Betel Home, Selkirk, at the age of 90 years. She is survived by her daughters, Lydia Viznaugh of Calgary, AB, Carolyn (Edward) Drobot of Selkirk, MB and her son Barry Young of Piney, MB. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John; her infant son Angus; her granddaughter Sheila; her parents and all her siblings. Elizabeth was born March 31, 1914 at Arnes, MB, the 11th child of Thorfinnur and Marsibil Helgason. After her marriage to John Young in 1932, she moved to Selkirk, where she remained until her passing. She took pleasure in gardening, crafts, travelling, spending time with her grandchildren, and was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Selkirk, until moving into the Betel Home in 1997. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Green Acres Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank those who cared for our Mother and "Gran" at the Betel Home for the past seven years.
