DOUGLAS SCRYMGEOUR March 12, 1918 - July 29, 2004 Doug will be lovingly remembered and missed by his daughter, Dawn (John) Stewardson; brother Norman; sisters-in-law, Valdine Scrymgeour and Peggy Algeo; his cousin Irene; eight nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife Ina; brothers, Charles and Jack; and brother-in-law Terry Algeo. Born in Winnipeg, Doug was employed by the City of Winnipeg for over 44 years, initially with Winnipeg Hydro and then with the Health Department. During the Second World War, he served as a Flying Officer in the R.C.A.F. In 2002, he moved to Victoria to be near his daughter. Throughout his adult life, Doug was involved in curling, baseball and community club work. As a draw master, he was long associated with many major bonspiels. He was a Past President and Honorary Life Member of the Elmwood Curling Club, an H.L.M of the Manitoba Curling Association and of the Past Presidents Association of Manitoba Curling Clubs. He was also a Commissioner and H.L.M. of Little Canadian Baseball and was the recipient of numerous awards for his volunteer work. Doug was a long-time member of the Manitoba Naturalists Society, the Wartime Pilots and Observers Association and a charter member of the Every Second Tuesday Breakfast Club, which he served as Chairman from 1985 to 2000. He had a life-long interest in the outdoors. A private memorial service was held in Victoria. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Naturalists Society, Humane Society or SPCA.
