GWEN WATSON (nee HOCKING) July 31, 1909 - July 30, 2004 Predeceased by her husband Fraser in 1968, her sister Jennie and brother Ralph. Survived by her five children and families, Brian and Phyllis, Dwight and Carole, Valerie and Jack, Toni and Jean-Claude, Sally and Bob; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Gwen was born in Perth, Australia in 1909. In 1918 her family moved to Victoria, BC where she distinguished herself in athletics and "fun". Always seeking adventure, in 1936 Gwen took a summer job at a resort in the Yukon. There she met her husband Fraser. Gwen and Fraser moved to Whitehorse, where they lived for 14 years - the happiest of their married life. During this time, their five children were born. Gwen, Fraser and the family moved to Winnipeg in 1950. Gwen stayed at home to raise her children and provide them with a supportive, loving environment, always stressing the need for education and ongoing learning. She was an avid reader and passed this love on to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Following her childrens marriages, Gwen became a world traveler, once again seeking adventure. Her travels took her to Europe, Russia, Great Britain, Australia, Florida, Mexico and South America. Gwens family meant everything to her. They all love her dearly and were with her to the end, celebrating her wonderful life. The family would like to thank the staff of Kildonan Personal Care Home, 3rd floor, for the care and compassion they gave to Gwen over the past nine years. There will be a private family memorial service. Donations in Gwens memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society, or to a charity of your choice. "I go, I go; look how I go- Swifter than arrow from the Tartars bow." (Puck, A Midsummer Nights Dream William Shakespeare)
