WALTER THEODORE MURDOCK "TED" August 7, 1946 - August 2, 2004 Peacefully, at his home, with his family by his side, Ted, of Fisher River Cree Nation went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2004 at the age of 57 years. Ted was born in Fisher River on August 7, 1946. He lived and worked in many places before settling in Fisher River after his marriage in 1990. Ted is lovingly remembered by his wife, Nora; son Dustin; daughter Reanne; sisters, Kathy Wood (Bill), Elma Matheson; brothers, Stewart (Ernestine), Marshall (Thelma), Kenneth (Doreen), as well as numerous nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins and many, many friends and the guides and guests at Knee Lake Resort all of whom he cherished deeply. He was special to Noras brothers and sisters and their families, Stella (Fred), Herb (Alice), Ellen (Klaus), Richard (Cathy), Ron (Shelley), Norma (Dave), Joanne (Jim), Mike (Val), Dunstan, and sister-in-law, Fern. Ted was predeceased by his father Walter Murdock; mother Violet Murdock; sisters, Mary, Hazel and Audrey; grandparents, William and Margaret Murdock; John R. and Addie Sinclair; in-laws Walter and Nora Cook of Grand Rapids; brothers-in-law Cameron and Don Cook. Ted was a born again Christian, a man of great faith. He loved to sing for the Lord and share his testimony of Gods love for us. He served as a band councilor for a term and was a church elder for the Dallas Community Gospel Fellowship. He led the singing in church and at family gatherings especially the annual Christmas party at their home. Ted loved to fish and hunt. He worked as a guide for many years for Knee Lake Resort and was employed for Knee Lake at the time of his passing. Ted loved his family, his friends and all people. Ted loved to go out in the bush, especially with his son, Dustin. Ted taught Dustin to hunt and fish from a very young age and left his son to enjoy the things that he enjoyed. Ted loved children and spoke often about teaching children about the Lord. He spoke about having faith and putting our trust in the Lord. He loved to quote Proverbs 22:6. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. This is the message that he would like us all to remember. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. A wake service will be held on Thursday, August 5 at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 6 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Lawrence Murdock and Pastor Carroll Hill officiating. Both services will be held at the Fisher River Community Hall, Koostatak, MB. Interment will follow at the Fisher River Community Cemetery. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day.
