ALFRED "LLOYD" WAZNY 1941 - 2004 "I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith." Our Dad fought a courageous battle with cancer, one that he would not give up, but could not win, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife and with his family by his side at the St. Boniface General Hospital, Palliative Unit on August 3, 2004. Dad grew up in the Melrose district and was the youngest of four children born to Peter and Elizabeth Wazny. Dad took over the family farm after his father died and continued to farm until he retired from farming in 1998 and moved into the city with Mom, settling in the Transcona area. Dad left behind the love of his life Lorraine, of 34 years; his daughters, Cheryl (Wayne) Rivers, granddaughters, Amanda and Ashley; Debbie (Mike) King, granddaughter Alyssa; and Kelly Wazny (fiance Roger Roy). His granddaughters meant everything to him and Grampa Lloydie spoiled them rotten. Grampa also leaves behind "additional" grandchildren, Deanna, Mikes daughter, and Matthew and Kevin, Rogers sons, whose company he enjoyed whenever they came to visit. Already missing him is his "sidekick" Bingo, who never left Dads side. Dad is also survived by his sisters, Jean (Norman) Tessier, Emily (Gerry) McDougal and Joan (Theophil) Jablonski; nieces and nephews, Tracey, Michael, Darcey and Darrell. Dad is also survived by his mother-in-law Pearl (Jim) Pede and his brother-in-law Dale (Sharon) Romaniuk. Dad was predeceased by his father Peter in 1957 and his mother Elizabeth in 1978. The family wishes to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and nurses at St. Boniface General Hospital Palliative Care Unit who took very good care of Dad. Also a very special thank you to Jayne, Hope and our guardian angel Allison for their care of Dad and compassion given to Mom. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 6 at the Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre at Glen Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Diabetes Foundation. Dad, no words can say how much we love you and how much youre going to be missed. You will always be in our hearts, as we know we will be in yours because part of our hearts went with you to Heaven. For now we say so long, not goodbye Dad...
