Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES (CHARLIE) KARL KAHLER It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Charlie Kahler at the age of 73 on August 4, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre. He is survived and mourned by his wife of 49 years, Betty; daughter Janice and granddaughter Amanda Haras; daughter Lori Kahler-Papakae; and son Greg (Mary) of Calgary, AB. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Christina; brother Peter; sister Rose Taras; granddaughter Leanne Haras; sister-in-law Irene Fonso; mother-in-law Martha and father-in-law Edward. He also leaves to mourn sisters, Pauline Robinson (Doug), Margaret Hersley (Ray), Kay Lyn (Ken) of Sicamous BC; brothers, Edward, Brian (Louise) of Fort Frances, ON; sisters-in-law, Ann Kahler and Linda Lake (Allan) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Charlie was born on December 21, 1930 in Camper, MB. He and his brother Ed partnered to operate Petro Canada Stations in Charleswood and the Maples for over 25 years. He truly enjoyed fixing cars and socializing with his regular customers. He also enjoyed the following years driving his truck for United Rentals. After retiring he spent hours catching up on his reading and just plain relaxing. The family sends their thanks to Dr. Drachenberg and the nurses and staff of Ward GH3 at the Health Sciences Centre for their diligence, care and compassion. Following his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of ones choice.
