JACK WILLIAM SHAPIRO Peacefully, and surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, August 6, 2004, Jack Shapiro, aged 75, beloved husband, father, zaida, brother, uncle and friend, passed away. He will be missed terribly by his wife of 47 years, Sheila; daughter Sandra; son Cory; his wife Goldelyn; three beautiful granddaughters, Elisabeth, Melissa and Jessica; brothers and sisters-in-law, Izzy and Shirley, and Harry and Ros; nephews and nieces, Paul Shapiro, Charlene and Harry Schwartz, Lori and Lyle Juravsky, Michelle and Michael Tessler and David and Toby Shapiro, and their children. He will be missed by his cousins, Oscar Schulman, Bill Schulman, and Sarah (Schulman) Kastner, with whom he grew up and maintained a close relationship despite living in different countries. He had a special relationship with Oscars son, Jeff who will miss him greatly. He will be also be missed by family and friends, especially the "minyanaires", with whom he spent many mornings in prayer at the Chevra Mishnayes Synagogue. Dad was predeceased by two wonderful people, his parents, Ben and Esther Shapiro. Dad treated everyone he met with kindness and respect. For him, the family was his world. One of his greatest pleasures was cooking and having the entire extended family over for dinners on holidays. His steaks were legendary. He found a new youth in his granddaughters and spent many wonderful hours with them. Thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre (Unit GA4 and MICU) and at Seven Oaks Hospital (3 Unit 4 and Observation and Emergency) who worked tirelessly to take such good care of Dad, especially in this past month. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the Etz Chayim Synagogue with interment to follow at the Bnay Abraham Cemetery. Pallbearers are, Paul Shapiro, David Shapiro, David Shapera, Harry Schwartz, Michael Tessler and Howard Jesierski. Shiva will be observed at 30 Montcalm Cres. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CancerCare Manitoba, The Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation or The Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre.
