Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRT. REV. MITRED ARCHPRIEST OREST HUDYMA May 28, 1943 - August 6, 2004 With deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our Dad, Fr. Orest, on Friday, at the Health Sciences Centre. Fr. Orest will be lovingly remembered by his mother Sadie Hudyma, Cold Lake, AB; his daughter Sophia, son-in-law Kevin Diplock, his beloved granddaughters, Elise and Justine; and his ex-wife and friend Nadya. Fr. Orest was predeceased by his sister Carol in 1946 and his father William in 1975. Fr. Orest was born in Nipawin, SK in 1943 and then as a young boy moved with his family to Cold Lake. While finishing high school he enjoyed playing guitar in his band, The Tropical Knights. In 1962 Fr. Orest moved to Winnipeg to attend St. Andrews College for Theological Studies. Fr. Orest married in 1964 and was blessed with the birth of his daughter Sophia the following year. In 1967 he was ordained as a priest. Serving his church allowed Fr. Orest and his family to live in many parishes across Canada from Ontario to British Columbia. Fr. Orest loved working with the youth, organizing Ukrainian Schools, Sunday Schools and promoting the importance of fellowship in his congregations. While living in Smoky Lake, AB Fr. Orests greatest joy was conducting his male choir "Dniester". Most of all, we remember Dad for his enthusiasm and love he shared with his children and granddaughters. Prayers will be held Thursday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main St. Funeral Liturgy will be held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Friday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. in the presence of His Beatitude the Most Blessed Metropolitan Wasyly-Uncle. Officiating Funeral Liturgy His Eminence the Most Rev. Archbishop John of Edmonton, assisted by clergy of the U.O.C.C. Interment will be at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. We thank those priest and friends who gave their support and prayers at this difficult time. We also thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Health Sciences Centre for their compassion and care of our Dad. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada Foundation in memory of Rt. Rev. Mitred Archpriest Orest Hudyma at 9 St. Johns Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 1G8.
