EMMA ROSE SLOCOMBE-KOLBECK (nee JOHNSON) September 5, 1912 - August 6, 2004 It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of Nana Rose, who, in the early evening hours of August 6, 2004 quietly went to be with her lord. Emma Rose is survived by her son, William (Lynn) Bills children, Gregory and Karen and Lynns sons, Russell and Clinton. Her grandsons, Mark Scott (Debbie) and David Koltun (Laura) and her great-grandchildren, Lisa and Ryan Scott and Rosemary Koltun. She is also survived by her step-daughters, Georgia Wong and Joanne Deslauriers; and her step-grandchildren, Kelly Wong and Kyle and Shane Deslauriers; her niece Joan Elliott; and her sister-in-law Alice Johnson; as well as all nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Emma Johnson; beloved husband Reginald Slocombe; daughter Dorothy Joyce; her brother Thomas Johnson; and common-law husband Ernest Kolbeck. Born in Garson, MB, her childhood was spent in farm life. Helping her mother with her brother Tom and latter step siblings when her mother re-married after her father died at a young age. She was not a healthy child and, as she liked to tell us, was often told she would not live to make old bones. Nana was 91. She was a loving and selfless mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put others before herself. Her joy in life was her family and they were everything to her. She always had enough love for everybody, and when she loved you it was forever. We all know she loves us still. It was her wish to be cremated and laid to rest with her husband Reginald. There will be a memorial service to remember her and rejoice in her life on Tuesday, August 10, at Park Manor Personal Care Home, 301 Redonda St. at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow the service. Flowers gratefully declined. In her honour, remember your elderly. Dont forget them and what they have given you and never let them be alone. Or if you wish, make a donation in her name to Park Manor Personal Care Home to help with future costs of therapeutic programs etc.
