Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE JANET FRIEDA GRIFFITHS (nee PATON) December 31, 1910- August 9, 2004 The family of Elsie is deeply saddened to announce her passing, early Monday morning at Tuxedo Villa. She will be lovingly remembered by Reginald, her husband of 73 years; her six children and 13 grandchildren, Dorothy (Dave), her family Lois (John), Jamie (Jackie) and Ronnie (Monique) Mae, her family Donnie, Dawna and Dena (Rick) Tom (Alice) and son Neal (Lucile) Betty, her family Debbie (Lyle), Karen and Bryon; Doreen (Peter) Marjorie (Allen) and her family Kim, Kerry (Steve) and Pam; 18 great-grandchildren; and her nephew, Lawrence (Terry). She was predeceased by her parents, John (1943), Frieda (1966) brother Victor (1976) sister Violet (2002) grandson Warren (1984) and son-in-law Merv (1992). Elsie was born in the Baie St. Paul area of Manitoba where she attended Belcourt and Allarie schools. In 1931, she married Reg and they took over the family farm, remaining there until their retirement to Oakville, MB in 1987. They enjoyed ten years there with old and new friends. In 1997, they moved to Charleswood to be nearer to their family. This year on June 10, they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. For many years, Elsie was a member of St. Pauls Anglican Church and secretary of St. Pauls ACW for 45 years. Together, Elsie and Reg were members of the Poplar Point Horticultural Society and the Belcourt Community Club. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa for all the care and compassion Elsie received during the last 20 months of her life. Also many thanks to all her homecare workers over the last three years she was at home. Elsie was loved by all who knew her and she will be dearly missed. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
