Mom was a generous, kind hearted person who loved to cook and bake and was always making various dishes for her children and friends. At mid-life, Mom decided to pursue a career in nursing and was a compassionate and caring LPN at Misericordia Hospital for many years, retiring in 1985. Nursing was her passion and she was most dedicated to her profession. Following retirement, she and John spent happy times doing numerous different activities, from bowling to gambling in Reno and on horse races, which she really enjoyed. Mom and John spent years wintering in Maglia, CA where they made many dear friends who attempted to lift her spirits with their phone calls, letters and cards. Mom loved picking blueberries, strawberries, saskatoons and chokecherries which she was able to do until her 83rd year. The fruit was turned into delicious jams, jellies and pies which she generously shared with family, friends and neighbours. The family wishes to thank Palliative Care nurse Chris Carlyle for her extra efforts to ensure Moms comfort before she was hospitalized. We would also like to thank the staff at Riverview 3E, especially Sean, Tony and Andrea along with the nurses aids who were so gentle and kind to her in her last days.
