EDWARD HADDAD On Friday, August 13, 2004 at the Portage District General Hospital, Ed Haddad passed away suddenly at the age of 80 years. Ed was predeceased by his parents Abraham and Annie; brother George and sisters-in-law, Merle, Ann and Kay. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Evelyn; brothers, John Haddad of Amaranth, Joseph (Thelma) Haddad of Brandon; sisters, Georgette Haddad of Portage la Prairie, Josephine Haddad of Winnipeg and Mona Haddad of Nanaimo, BC; nieces, Tanis and Kathy; nephews, Keith, Cleg and David and the "Grand Kids", Kala, Brandon, Daylen, Kaiden and "Little Ed". Ed was born December 19, 1923 and was raised in Amaranth, MB. He married Evelyn Kelm on July 22, 1944 and together they owned and operated the Haddads General Store in partnership with two brothers. In 1975 they moved to Portage la Prairie making it their home right up to the present time. Ed worked for Tecza Mercury in sales for 13 years and enjoyed his involvements in the Portage Masonic Lodge and the Khartum Shriners of Winnipeg. Ed and Evelyn were thankful to their family and friends for the very special celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary on July 22, 2004. Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 16 at 1:30 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie with Wilma Shirriff officiating. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Eds memory to Khartum Shrine Transportation Fund, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B9 (please note correction of address) A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Ed by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel who are in care of arrangements.
