ALFRED GEORGE SANFORD Peacefully, Alf, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, slipped away to join his life partner, Tone, on Thursday, August 12, 2004, at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 88 years. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lynne Korkosh (Wally) and Carole de Wet (Bryan) his grandchildren, David Korkosh (Belinda), Robert Korkosh (Sandra), Jennifer Martin (Barry) and Jason de Wet (Jennifer) his great-grandchildren, Ashley and Colin Korkosh, Riley Korkosh, Curtis Martin and Johnathan de Wet; brother Jack Sanford; niece Sheila Franks; and nephew Guy Sanford. Alf was predeceased by his wife Tone (Matilda) in 1980; parents, John and Elizabeth Sanford; sisters, Violet Kingsland and Nancy Alcock; and nephew Jack Kingsland. Alf was born in Winnipeg on February 12, 1916. He grew up and attended school in the Fort Garry and Fort Rouge area. From 1940 to 1945, Alf served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Upon his return from the service, he was employed with the CNR for 39 years until his retirement. In compliance with Alfs wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family interment will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Alfs memory may be made to the Childrens Wish Foundation of Canada, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2.
