KATHERINE CHRUSCIEL Peacefully, on Saturday, August 14, 2004, at the Portage District General Hospital, Katherine Chrusciel, of Oakville, widow of the late Albert Chrusciel passed away at the age of 90 years. Prayers will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie, on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in St. Marys Catholic Church, Elm Creek, MB, on Wednesday, August 18, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Fr. Ed Kosa officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Elm Creek Cemetery. Katherine was born on May 11, 1914 in Poland. She lived her childhood in Poland then France during the time surrounding the Second World War. She arrived in Canada in March of 1949 living in Esterhazy, SK where she lived with her Aunt Stella and Uncle Peter. On January 28, 1950, she married Albert Chrusciel, and together they farmed near Oakville, MB, where she resided until her passing. She was a very hard worker on the farm especially in the early years, actively helping out with the livestock, the haying and the grain, or whatever needed to be done. Katherine was a fabulous cook, famous for her homemade soups and roast beef dinners. Everyone, including visitors or workers, did not leave the table hungry. She was an avid gardener, taking pride in her large vegetable garden, often having the first and largest potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc., before anyone else did. As a result of this, she also did a lot of freezing and canning. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing. She was a member of the St. Marys Roman Catholic Church in Elm Creek for over 50 years. Predeceased by her parents, her husband Albert in 1970, infant daughter in 1952, brother Stanley, sister Maria, and her special aunt and uncle. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Joseph of Oakville, MB, her sister-in-law Nancy, her nieces, Helen, Josephine and Evelyn, her cousins, Mary, Stan, Ed, Nellie, Stella, Josephine, Marge and Georgina, and by other members of the Maga Family. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Katherines memory to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8. Friends may leave a message at our web site www.omegafuneralhome.com "Dedicated to Those We Serve".
