Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM OSTAP On Saturday, August 14, 2004, William Ostap passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 92 years. William was born January 9, 1912 in Kolomaya, Ukraine, and immigrated to Canada in December 1929. He married Anne Kumka in November 1937. He was predeceased by his wife Anne in 1973; his father Alexander in 1977; his mother Helena in 1978 and his daughter-in-law Karren in 1986. He is survived by his sons, William (Dana) and Stan; grandchildren, Gordon and Jackie (John Bragg) and great-granddaughters, Emma, Olivia and Lily. He also leaves sister Mary (Gordon Pearson) nieces, Chris (Tom Krawetz) and Roz Parker and their families, along with sisters-in-law, Kay, Greta and Annie; brothers-in-law, Ed and Lou; plus numerous nieces and nephews. William and Anne operated stores in East Kildonan, St. Vital, and West End. After Annes passing, William resided in the Maples for 30 years. Dad enjoyed talents in music (self taught 5 instruments), carpentry, organic gardening and billiards. He remained loyal in his devotion to his family. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 10:00 a.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Pastor Lynne Hutchison officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gordon Ostap, Ed Kammerlock, Jimmy Houldsworth, Irwin Kumka, Tyler Krawetz and Daniel Krawetz. Honorary pallbearers are Gordon Pearson, Ron Leslie, and Tom Krawetz. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Palliative Ward for their compassionate care.
