Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN VIOLET MARIE ROMANIUK (nee POITRAS) March 9, 1936 - August 13, 2004 With her daughters at her side, their beloved mother passed peacefully into the arms of the angels and to her heavenly home on August 13, 2004 at 68 years of age. Mom will be deeply missed by her daughters, Nadine Anderson (husband Wayne), Janet Romaniuk and Randie Romaniuk, loving grandchildren, Cheryal, Adam and Shannon Romaniuk; brothers, Wallace and Adelard; sisters, Phyllis and Myrna, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Adelard and Violet Poitras; brother Jim Poitras; sister Cecile Koene and infant granddaughter Veronica Hope Romaniuk. Joan was born in Winnipeg and worked at Manitoba Medical, Eatons before having a family and moving to Thompson. Upon returning to Winnipeg, she received her certificate in Upholstery and worked for Queen Anne Upholstering and Doerksen and Gronau Manufacturing retiring in 1985. Joan joined the Royal Purple Ladies Auxiliary in Thompson as well as the CWL at the St. Lawrence Ukrainian Parish; volunteered at the St. Josephs Hospital in North Bay and was a member at the St. Vital Parish in Winnipeg. Joan enjoyed curling, sewing, crafts, knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. She was a loving woman whose kind and generous spirit left a lasting impact on the lives of her family and her many friends while at Fred Tipping Place with her witty sense of humour and many wonderful memories. We wish to thank Doctors, Shay and Tanner and also extend thanks to Doctors, Henry, Rigatto, Fine, Reslerova, Verelli, Silverman, Smith and Leicht as well as the staff on the fourth floor Dialysis Unit at St. Boniface and staff at the Victoria General Hospital and The Health Science Center. Cremation as per Joans request has taken place. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Vital Parish, 1629 Pembina Hwy., with Fr. P.A. Morand officiating, with a reception immediately following the service at Nadine and Waynes at 1330 Windemere Ave. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Joans memory to the Patient Care Fund at the St. Boniface Dialysis Unit. Mom you will be greatly missed, you are at peace now, no soul was as strong and determined as yours, you were our life and laughter. Love Nadine, Janet and Randie
