ALFREDA MARGARET FLORENCE CARRIERE Alfreda Margaret Florence Carriere (nee Storey), beloved wife of Arthur Carriere died peacefully Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at the Beausejour Hospital. Freda was born April 15, 1927 in Sturgeon Creek, the youngest child of Alfred and Lydia Storey. There was no other place like Harcourt Street and the "Kirkby Kids"! Freda enjoyed her job at the T. Eaton Company until her marriage to Art Carriere November 21, 1953. Throughout the early years of their marriage Freda and Art lived in Richer, West Hawk Lake, Seven Sisters, Stead, eventually retiring to Grand Marais. Freda was a stay at home Mum until Louise and James completed school when she then returned to the workforce as a resource aide at Walter Whyte School. She delighted in sharing her passion for reading with young students and with her unending patience was a favourite among all. Freda was a longtime member of St. Judes Anglican Church in Grand Marais. Freda is survived by her beloved husband Art with whom she shared 50 years of marriage. Family was first and foremost to Freda, she supported our endeavours and took pride in our achievements. She was a loving Mum to Louise Rawluk (Warren) of Gypsumville, and James Carriere (Tiffany) of Lethbridge, AB. Freda was the dear Grandma of Jennifer, Breanne, Ashley, Matthew, Mackenzie and Taylor. She will also be missed by her step-grandchildren, Teresa (Brad), Chris, Holly, Benjaman, Sydney, Hunter and Greer; step-great-grandchildren, Danielle, Evan, Hannah, and Matthew. Freda will be lovingly remembered by her sister Eleanor Brough of Idaho, brother-in-law Howard Welsh of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Noella Pichette of Winnipeg, and her new found cousin Norman Storey of Victoria, BC; nieces and nephews as well as her many friends acquired over the years. Freda was predeceased by her parents; as well as her brother Burt Storey; and sisters, Bess Brough, Dot Welsh, and Kaye Owens. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 20 at 2:00 p.m. in Christ Church, 227 McLean Ave., Selkirk. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff of Beausejour Hospital for their compassion and caring. You have truly captured the essence of nursing. Our appreciation to Dr. David Corder for his kind care. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
