STELLA LAZAR Stella Lazar, aged 83, passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital on August 14, 2004. Stella was born in Winnipeg on October 1, 1920 and was also known as Mom, Nanny and Aunt Sally. She was predeceased by George, her husband of 52 years; her brother John (Drapok) sister Mary (Pismenny) and nephew Dan Pismenny. She leaves to celebrate her memory, her son Larry (Joyce) grandson David (Corrine) and great-grandchildren, Natasha and Margot of Montreal; granddaughter Donna (John) Williams and great-grandchildren, Claudia, Dayna and Rhys of Surrey, BC; and a niece Phyllis Fossberg. Stella had worked as a hairdresser for many years at Lates Beauty Parlor, Eatons downtown and lastly at Fashionette Polo Park. Her hands were never idle as she pursued her love of knitting, crocheting, and various needlework, with nothing less than perfection. She enjoyed many activities with friends both old and new. Having nothing but kind words for everyone she met, she had many friends throughout her life. We thank the staff at Victoria General Hospital Oncology Department and the staff on the 5th Floor for their help and kindness. A special thank you to Gabriel Burkis for her love and kindness to Nanny. Memorial service will take place on Friday, August 20, at 11:00 a.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stellas memory can be made to the Cancer Society, Humane Society or charity of your choice.
