GORDON REYNOLDS It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear friend, Gordon William Reynolds, on August 14, 2004 at the Deer Lodge Hospital for Veterans. Not long after arrival from Dovershire, England, Charles and Lilly Reynolds were awarded land near Lundar, MB. Soon after on August 30, 1910 they added Gordon to their family. Growing up on the farm, Gordon heartily loved his country upbringing and shared his cherished memories through stories. As a boy, Gordon loved the garden and cooking with his Mom, thrashing and baseball with his Dad, carpentry, poetry writing and music. In church he played the organ and later in life, enjoyed sharing the stage on occasion with Marg Osborne and Don Messer of "Don Messers Jubilee" Fame where his talents with the organ, harmonica and the spoons added to the entertainment. After his mother died, Gordon left the farm, proudly and willingly joining the army, defending his country in the Second World War. Upon arrival home, he learned of his fathers passing and the sad but necessary sale of the farm. Gordon enjoyed many hobbies and activities, proudly displaying his many bowling trophies. Over the years, he held various occupations including his favourite, caretaking apartment buildings which he did well after his retirement. Gordon will however best be remembered for his generosity and acts of kindness, always willing to help however he could, for he truly was a caretaker not only of buildings, but of people as well. He was known to leave his door forever unlocked in case someone may need refuge in the middle of the night, often giving up his own bed to friend or stranger in need of rest and a hot cup of tea. His kindness was unending and his ever-present cheerful optimism reflective in his sparkling blue eyes. A friend to many gone before him and many left to remember him, he will be truly missed by those whose hearts he touched throughout his life. Uncle Gordon will be especially missed by his longtime friends Doris Seavers, Louise Fayowski, Dennis and Renee Gusta and family, Jesse, Sara and Lee (Joe) Gusta. We would like to thank the staff of the Deer Lodge Hospital D7 for the care Uncle Gordon received during his stay, and to the Public Trustee for approval of his final arrangements. We appreciate your kindness beyond words. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. "At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember him." Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca
