JOSEPH KROMLEY Peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Joseph Kromley of East Selkirk, passed away with his family at his side at the age of 89. Joe will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Evelyn of 55 years; daughter Bonny (Don) Hutniak; son James; grandchildren, Bonnie Lynn Castillo of Houston, TX, Sara and Lisa Hutniak of Winnipeg; sisters, Jean Kromley of Winnipeg, Mina Perry of Mission, BC; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Anne Kromley and his brother Nicky Kromley. Joe was born August 20, 1915 in Arborg, MB. He served overseas in the Second World War as Lance Corporal stationed in England. After five and a half years of Military Service Joe returned to Canada. He loved to do some carpentry and also work on his hobby farm with his John Deere tractor in his spare time. For many years Joe drove bus for Red River Motor Coach Lines, later drove school bus for Lord Selkirk School Division for 21 years and also was mail courier on Rural Route for Canada Post. In the past he was an active member of the East Selkirk Community Hall and East Selkirk Rec Centre. He also enjoyed being a member of the Selkirk Royal Canadian Legion No. 42 attending meat draws with his wife, playing cards and socializing with Legion Comrades and friends. In accordance with Joes wishes only a private family viewing on Friday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk will take place with cremation to follow. The family greatly thanks Dr. Badenhorst and the doctors and nurses of the Palliative ward at Selkirk General Hospital for their care, dedication and thoughtfulness in taking care of our loved one.
