LILLY M. PASCHKE August 6, 1911 - August 16, 2004 Lilly Paschke went home to the glorious presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on August 16, 2004 at the age of 93 years. She was born to William and Amelia Kuhn at Leduc, AB on August 6, 1922, the fourth child in a family of 15. She grew up on the family farm at Leduc. A vital part of family life was her faith in God and participation in Rabbit Hill Baptist Church. It was there in February of 1927 she accepted Christ as her Saviour, and was baptized the following summer in a creek nearby. Though her public education ended after grade eight, Lilly regularly participated in seasonal Bible courses taught by local pastors. With the opening of a new Bible School in Edmonton, she enrolled, and graduated in the first graduating class at the Christian Training Institute in 1942. In 1943 she married Bill Paschke of Morris, MB, and moved to the family farm there. Their two children, Shelley and Robert, grew up there. When Bill predeceased her on August 18, 1973, she moved to town after buying a property within a block of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Her life there revolved around home, church, and extended family until deteriorating health made a move to the Red River Valley Lodge necessary. The Bible continued to be very important to her as she was a long-time sponsor of the Scripture Memory Program, and a Sunday School Teacher of pre-school children. She was keenly interested in foreign missions, and made extended trips to Cameroon and Nigeria to help her younger sister Minnie, who was a missionary nurse. Music played an important role in her life also. She was a church pianist, regularly accompanied quartets and choirs, and for decades could be depended on as the first alto in the second row of the church choir. Lilly loved to read, and treasured her time as church librarian. She also loved books about nature, and bought just about every book the National Geographic Society ever published. While she could, she travelled extensively with her sisters to see a lot of it firsthand. Toward the end of her life, her loss of mobility and clear communication became frustrating to her and her family, as they missed her sense of humour and wry comments. Especially missed will be her prayers on behalf of her extended family. She was, however, very well cared for at the Red River Valley Lodge, and the family is deeply grateful to the staff there. Lilly is survived by her son Robert (Gaylene) daughter Shelley (Don) Edel; grandchildren, Kim (Adam) Atkinson, Charlene ( Tony) Nikkel, Brook (Ilisoni) Raiquiso, Dan, Jared, Evan (Nancy) and Tobin Paschke. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Lillys memory to the Morris Emmanuel Baptist Church Missions Fund. A family interment service in the Morris Cemetery has taken place. The memorial service will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Morris on Sunday, August 22 at 6:30 p.m. MORRIS FUNERAL HOME 746-2451 Toll Free 1-866-746-2451
