Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES ROBERT RETTIE 1913 - 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Robert Rettie, born July 3, 1913 in Winnipeg, MB, died August 12, 2004 in White Rock, BC. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Catherine (Kae) Rettie. He will lovingly be remembered by his children, Brenda MacKenzie (Malcolm) and Ross Rettie (Dianne) grandchildren, Karen Graham (Tom), Erin Gagner (Jamie), Marion Murray (Paul) and Craig Rettie (Allison) great-grandson Hugh Graham; and special friend Sheila Herbert. Jim was a Professional Engineer, graduating in 1935 from the University of Manitoba. He spent most of his working career in Manitoba, initially with the Province of Manitoba, Department of Mines and Natural Resources, the Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board and then Manitoba Hydro. With Manitoba Hydro, Jim was Director of Engineering and was responsible for the engineering and construction of many thermal and hydro power generation projects. Jim was also elected to the Council of the Association of Professional Engineers of Manitoba in 1962. After retiring to British Columbia in 1966, Jim undertook projects advising the court and conducting arbitrations. He was a life member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC and the YMCA in Vancouver. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 18 in Tsawwassen, BC.
