Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH MARIE PERKINS (nee RIDDICK) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their dear mother, companion, grandma, aunt and friend Ruth Marie Perkins (nee Riddick) in her 83rd year. Ruth passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at Riverdale Health Centre in Rivers, MB. She will be sadly missed by Eric; daughters, Linda Pilat (Jan), Lesley and Jennifer of London, ON, Margaret Marriott (Doug), Rob and Christina. Brothers, Robert (Joyce) Riddick of Modesto, CA and Thomas Riddick of Brandon; and sister-in-law Margaret Riddick of Winnipeg. Ruth is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, George and Raymond; and sister-in-law Norma. A celebration of Ruths life was held on Saturday, August 21 at St. James Anglican Church, Rivers at 2:00 p.m. Ruth was born in Rivers, February 24, 1922, where she spent her early years until moving to The Pas with her family. After finishing school, she went to Winnipeg where she was employed by the T. Eaton company. A few years later Ruth returned to Rivers with her two daughters and was employed by McKenzies Department Store and then Manitoba Telephone System. Ruth was employed with MTS for 32 years as an operator, and chief operator and later when Rivers converted to dial, she was employed in their Winnipeg office in Investigation and Fraud. While living in Winnipeg, she met Eric and together they enjoyed many years of camping and travelling with the Good Sam Club. Retirement years brought them both back to Rivers. A special part of their life together was their shared love for their terrier Danny. Ruth was a beautiful knitter and seamstress. She spent many hours creating sweaters, afghans, baby outfits and shawls which she generously passed on to her family and friends. Her talent in sewing resulted in beautiful dresses, skating and dance costumes. Her love and generosity will be missed by all who knew her.
