IRENE ZATONSKI July 11, 1919 - August 18, 2004 On a blustery day five stories below heaven, Irene gusted into Mother Marys waiting arms at the age of 85. Irene was predeceased by her husband Tadeusz (Ted) July 18, 1983. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Jeannette (Jojo) and son Richard; grandsons, Lee (Cindy) and Kyle (Nicole) granddaughters, Deanna and Tia; great-grandsons, Zachary, Rayne, Ethan; great-granddaughters, Charly and Kaylie; one sister Maria; her children, Zbig (Anna) and Henia; grandchildren, Monica, Jessica and Candace; also many dear relatives and friends, Tami and Pamela. We lost a very strong lady who survived the horrors of the Second World War, but succumbed to the terror of cancer. She was born in Lodz, Poland; there she lost her parents and five brothers and sisters. After the war she settled in Winnipeg where she met her Ted and married. They raised their children in the North End. Irene was an excellent cook who honed her culinary skills in the Winnipeg Airport Restaurant for thirty years. Her meals were legendary at home and at work. Baby Uhma loved babies and bingo and was lucky at both. Her friends were many and complaints were few. Grams was a loving lady who gave all she could to all she loved. Special thanks to Dr. Finlayson and the great staff from the 5th floor at Seven Oaks Hospital and also to the other caregivers involved. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, August 24 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers are Joey Szor, Cory Campbell, J.C. Campbell, David Orvis, Larry Monkman and Jean-Louis Charbonneau. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
